In order to improve the efficiency of the packing and distribution of product stock in warehouses, and to reduce the use of fragile cardboard cartons, NEXT Plc commissioned TRIG Creative to design and develop a new style of logistics crate for use in all of their UK distribution centers.

Under extremely tight timescales, TRIG Creative were challenged to design and CAD model a collapsing crate system, which would have a greater internal capacity and stack on pallets more efficiently than the existing cardboard solution.

 The most challenging aspect of the project was to deliver a collapsing mechanism in as few parts as possible and enable the collapsed product to be as compact as possible for storage and shipping purposes. The solution was designed exclusively with large complex rugged injection moulded components that incorporated all fasteners and connections in their design to negate the need for any additional fixings.
